Just thought I’d leave this comment here if anyone’s interested in Gobelins;

I just called Gobelins yesterday, and it seems the course is all about acting and performance within animation – which is great I thought. They don’t teach you how to animate in a specific way. You come in and you use the medium you want whether hand-drawn, Flash or CG. You attend lectures given by different professionals, including Kyle Balda who worked for Pixar, and they all talk about how to bring great performance to your animation. Then you have open workshops in the afternoons where teachers give you guidance based on the performance and acting, regardless of the medium you use. Both professionals and students attend this course – from 18 yrs and up. It’s only 2 weeks though.

I see that CSSSA is only for high school students. I don’t suppose anyone knows of an animation workshop (that includes 2-D) and is appropriate for adults? Something along the lines of the Illustration Academy (a 7-week intensive)?

I know CSSSA is AMAZING. I attended the 2008 program for animation, and it’s truly an intensive and inspiring 4 week course. This summer I’m considering Gobelins. I’m curious about how much drawing is involved and how much is purely computer animation, so I’d love to hear some thoughts on that course if anyone has attended it. Thanks.

Actually it was supposed to be a Pixar class exclusive, then it leaked to the rest of the school, then to the rest of the world.

Too bad gobelins summercourse costs 2500€…. I wish there were more summerclasses in Europe.
