CTN Animation Expo
I had a great time at the CTN animation expo. I am sorry that I did not get the change to finish my presentation. 20 minutes is not much time and I will try to post some of the notes and the closing video. Thanks again for all the support. All inquires regarding masterclasses check out the site for updates or email me at splinedr@gmail.com
Some of the things I really liked about the expo were how open everyone was about sharing information. To have access to all these amazing people is unreal. There were some really great panels as well as demos. I wish I had the chance to participate more. I’d love to here more about what people liked and what they thought could be better. Its exciting to see something like this happen and my hats off to the CTN team and Tina Price for making this happen.

Hi Andrew, Thanks so much for being there at the CTN! It was so great to see you and meet you! It was very disappointing that you were only given 20 minutes… I think for the first annual CTN it was awesome! A ton of people showed up and had some amazing lectures and demos, I think it will only grow thanks to wonderful people like you!
God Bless,
Darrell Vasquez

Thanks Andrew for speaking at CTN. I was a little disappointed with the time that was given for your segment, 20 minutes wasn’t enough at all. But thanks for taking the time to talk to the small group of us outside after your lecture.
Cheers
Gabe
Hey Andrew,
Great speech at CTN!! I was blown away by it. It was one of the most dense presentations at the whole expo, in my opinion. I’m now a subscriber to your podcast, and I hope you get to post up the videos/ notes on the stuff that you didn’t get to show us.
I still don’t get why you only got 20 minutes on your presentation on animation at the ANIMATION expo…
Hope to see you again in the future (next year’s CTN, maybe?)
Dave
Thanks a lot for your presentation Andrew. Even though you only had 20 minutes I thought it was great stuff. I hope I get the chance to see you speak again where you get to do the full presentation. But, I really appreciate you continuing for us outside on your laptop.
I thought the whole expo was pretty amazing with unbelievable access to some of the best talent around. Besides your presentation, some of my favorites were Mime for animation, Pixar’s story panel, and Jason Ryan’s presentation. Plus, just walking the floor and being able to check out so many great artists work (or that you could see people like Eric Goldberg or Don Bluth walking around and be able to talk to them) was all pretty amazing. I only wish the venue was a little bigger to accomodate all the people who were interested in checking out some of the more popular panels.
But, I definitely look forward to next year for sure!

Hi Andrew!
My friends and I thought among all the presentation and talks given, yours was one of the BEST 20 minutes talk ever. We wish it ran longer too! Thank you so much for being there and enlightening so many of us. We will never forget the experience and the amazing stuff you shared.

Hey Andrew!
Thank you so much for making it out to the Animation Expo. It was really a great opportunity to have finally met you. Your lecture was AMAZING, and like what many others have said, it was a shame that we ran out of time. I really appreciated you taking the time to continue the lecture with the few of us outside. I took away some fantastic notes that are already helping my group and me on our short film. I hope to see you speak again sometime soon, and in the meantime I will be studying those notes and putting them to practice.
As for the expo itself, I can only say great things about it. It was an unbelievable experience! The lectures were fantastic and having the ability to meet and chat with all the amazing talent was really an invaluable experience. Especially for a student like myself, this event was like being a kid in a candy store. I never thought I could learn so much in 3 short days, and I am incredibly grateful for the CTN crew who made this possible. I hope that they will continue this event in the upcoming years. Anyone who wasn’t able to make it should definitely come out next year. It was worth every moment.
Thanks again Andrew,
Calvin

Awesome Lecture Andrew, thanks for making it over here.
Yeah, this expo was a treat, i liked the small venue. It made everyone accessible , all was very open and generous.
I learned tons, made some cool networks and collected a lot of goodies.
The great part i noticed though was everybody learned form each other, from the greats to the dedicated student.
Looking forward to the posting of what you did not get to share soon, thanks again for your time.
Appreciate it,
Herman G

I enjoyed your lecture very much. 20 mins IS really too short for all the info you have to share with us. Partly because there are so many lectures in one day, partly because you practically raced through the lecture, I had a hard recalling the content of your lecture (barely had time to take notes). I love the home video of your little girl standing on your palm, it’s AWESOME, but I wish I could remember why you did that. Anyway, it was great fun. I’d definitly like to see a more complete version of your notes. Thanks alot!!!

the visual storytelling panel and the color scripting panel were really interesting, not to mention your lecture, which seemed like you were just getting warmed up. Honestly, my favorite part of your lecture was your examples of good/bad acting choices and why. Thank you for the great presentation!

like everyone else leaving a better comment before me, Thx so much for this (too short) lecture… ‘Hope to see more online and… next yeat?
Take care.

Hi Andrew, sorry to miss you; I was working at the table for Woodbury University’ animation program (in Burbank).
Glad you could make it down here.

Thank you so much for heading to the CTN Expo and for the brief yet very informative panel! It’s always inspiring to hear animators who are so passionate about their work and are eager to share what they’ve learned with others. Looking forward to any other notes you can post that we didn’t have time to see at the panel.
I too liked the intimate venue, but I wonder if it was perhaps a bit TOO small. The aisles in the exhibition hall were often packed with people! I hope it can be expanded next year now that the organizers have some idea of how many people to expect attending.
Overall it was a great experience! I loved seeing everybody wandering around with sketchbooks and laptops showing each other their work, sharing ideas and collaborating. It seems a lot more active than Comic-Con in that regard; I think the majority of attendees were artists themselves!

Hey Andrew,
Unfortunately I couldn’t make it down to The CTN expo this year. It’s great to hear your experience with the event, as well as from others… sounds like it was a success in many ways!
Hopefully it will be even bigger and better in the future & I will see you there next year.
(gotta start looking for some cheap flights)ha.
Cheers

Hey Andrew, CTN was great. I really appreciate guys like you taking the time to join an event like this. I totally agree that the openess at the event made the experience a very fun and fruitful one. Critic for the show….20 minutes is not enough time. lol It was a bummer for you/us on that, you were just getting going. Thanks for finishing up out side at the Q&A. It was a really good show, particularly for it’s first outing. Thanks again,
Larry
